Star-Trek Future = iPhone Technology Applied To Everything Else
It used to be that Star Trek: The Next Generation was light-years ahead, yet still conceiveable with a mild case of willing suspension of disbelief. Think about the computers with touch-sensitive surface keyboards, displays that changed interfaces on touch, voice-activated computer commands, etc.
However, that is not the case anymore it seems.
The iPhone has captured everyone’s attention this year. But much of it is not different than what I’m using right now on my laptop - the touch-pad mouse which allows me to quick-scroll, is sensitive to different weights & speed of tapping, etc. The iPhone just does it on a lit monitor screen like the Treo already has. Can you imagine the same UI & technology extended beyond the cell phone?
Here’s a peek at what’s to come in the future that the Apple iPhone is kicking off..although this video is of technology being demoed by Microsoft:
Take a look at this 18 minute video that goes through this new technology in detail — which is being launched publicly later this year. You’ll first see it in hotels, restuarants & casinos first. Certainly it will add a “wow-factor” to those establishments.
