Blockbuster Video Total Access & Blockbuster By Mail Plans & Prices

Blockbuster Online Movie Rental Plans come in a couple of different flavors:

  • First, there’s the UNLIMITED Plans which offer 4 DVD’s out at a time, 3 DVD’s, 2DVD’s or just 1 DVD at a time.

  • Next, there’s the 1 DVD out at a time, but you can only do it twice a month or three times a month.

  • Separate, but related, there’s a “BY MAIL ONLY” Plan where you don’t get the option to return the DVD’s back to a local physical Blockbuster Video Store to trade it for a free in-store rental.  You DO still get a printable coupon every month for 1 free in-store movie or game rental with all “BY MAIL ONLY” Plans and all “TOTAL ACCESS” Plans.  Basically, you save $1/month or $12/year — get this if you don’t have a local Blockbuster store around you, or if you don’t have time to ever go to the store in person to rent or return movies.

Basically, if you rent DVD’s from anywhere semi-regularly, the Blockbuster Online trial is a great value and way to test out the service to see if you like the convenience of the DVD’s by mail delivery method (you will).  If you just rent 3 movies the 1st time and do nothing more, that makes each movie rental just $3.33 each.  Of course you can immediately drop them off at the local Blockbuster store and get 3 more in-store movie rentals right there and then and walk out the door with 3 more movies for free, now making each rental just $1.67 each.  Don’t forget the free printable coupon you get when you log into your online account – good for any movie or game rental at the local Blockbuster — this just made each rental cost $1.43 each.  But wait!  When you returned your 3 DVD’s you got in the mail, Blockbuster immediately mailed out the next 3 movies in your “Queue” – which means you’ll get 3 more movies  – suddenly you just got 10 movie rentals for $9.99 — that’s $1/movie through Blockbuster, and it’s only your first week!
