People can be so annoying.  I mean, sometimes, don’t you just think work would be great if you just removed all those people!  Or the same thing for parks, or the movies, or even NYC!  But what would they all be without “people” to begin with. . .

The fact that personal technology gadgets are proliferating doesn’t help this cause either.  Everyone knows the Loud-Cell-Phone-Talker — a Jerry Seinfeld monologue waiting to happen.  Or those cabbies that are now blasting their mp3 player music through their car stereos without any mercy for the cars 2 lanes over or the pedestrians on the sidewalks.   Hey, ever been in a restaurant, bar, waiting room or other place with the TV blaring and no one watching?  Wouldn’t it be great if someone just turned down the volume for once?

Now “countergadgets” are coming out to solve the problems of annoying people and things all around us.  The WSJ’s “Revenge by Gadget” article uncovers some of the good work that inventors are doing to get back at all those things that annoy us.

A device that silences car stereos that are blasting within a given radius.

Something that mutes televisions on demand – TV-B-Gone!

Timers that don’t let the foursome of golfers ahead of you stall your game due to balls that are obviously lost forever.

Cellphone jammers (illegal in many places, but available) to silence those excessively loud jabbers who think they are more important than everyone else around them.

There’s even a device that emits high frequency sounds that are particularly annoying to the physiology that kids have (vs. adults who cannot hear these frequencies anymore) called “the Mosquito”.

Just turn it on and annoying teens that loiter around for no purpose (that suits you) can be dispersed electronically!

This is clearly a market that has growth potential — I bet you can name a bunch of “needs” right now off the top of your head about your pet peeves and how a new gadget could solve that problem!
