Recently a friend noticed that the letters on my keyboard are worn out — and noted that it might be becuase my fingers go flying across the keyboard. . . A couple of people have noted how fast I type in the past.  But it’s just natural to me.  I guess it’s kind of noticeable when chatting online…it’s much easier to use digital mediums when your thoughts aren’t stuck in a queue waiting for your fingers to get the words onto the page.

I know back in high school I was typing at a rate of 55-60 words per minute when I had to take typing tests for temp and summer admin jobs (back then white collar temp jobs paid $20/hour or higher for a measly jr. high or high school student like myself!).

But today, I found out just how fast I type these days.  When I saw the numbers, I re-took the test a couple of times to make sure it was reasonable, and boy was I surprised. . .

According to the online typing test, I can type 83 words per minute!  WOW!

How fast do you type?  Take the test and then come back and leave a comment to let us know.  I’m curious to find out how fast people type given that we all interact with the computer daily – across jobs, ages, status, countries, etc.
