If you have a website, chances are that you upload files via FTP once in awhile.

If you have a blog or site that is updated with fresh content regularly you probably find yourself uploading image or other files constantly via FTP.

As part of my continuous search for eliminating redundant/unnecessary tasks in everything I do, I realized that launching my FTP application, selecting the server to connect to and then logging in each time just to transfer a single new photo or image file for a blog post was a complete waste of time.

What’s more, I realized that if I could figure out a way to do it effortlessly, I’d probably end up writing more too.

Then I thought, “Hey, what if you could just RIGHT-CLICK on a file and then let it automatically transfer via FTP into my “images” or any other specific folder on my web server?”

Guess what . . . here’s the solution. . .

SendToFTP right click FTP application

After a quick Google search, I found a great freeware program that does exactly that — it adds a right-click menu option to SendToFTP to pre-saved server/locations. It also has the option to selectively navigate to any folder on the FTP server as well manually before uploading the file.

It supports passive transfers, firewall settings, configurable ascii and binary settings and more.

Want to upload a batch of files? No problem! Just select the group of files you want in Windows Explorer and then right-click to beam them up and away.

When you right-click on a file, go to “SEND TO >” and then SendTo FTP is one of the options.  This will open up a dialog box where you can verify the files and destination or modify the details of the transfer from there.

A rare instance where the application does exactly what it should and does it simply without any clutter or distractions.
