How to Supersize Your Laptop Screen At Home
Apr 12th
Let me ask you a question…
Do you you use your laptop or your desktop computer at home as your “main computer”? Most probably, you’re like me in that you use your laptop all around the house and take it with you to different places. But you have a good ol’ desktop somewhere at home (probably with a nice LCD monitor) that you use somewhat regularly too.
In fact, you might even find yourself using your laptop at the same desk or table as the desktop computer.
What’s interesting about technology sometimes is that in the name of technology, we somehow adopt “lower” standards. A classic example is the telephone. We used to see commercials with the images of pins dropping by the phone to show off just how crystal clear the sound was when you’re calling someone. But there days, do you ever see any pins dropping on TV? Absolutely not! Because we live in a wireless world now, and strangely enough, everyone is pretty ok with the static-filled cell phone calls. Or the loud whooshing of the highway and cars in the background. Or the loud kids in the background while your shopping and talking at the same time with the kids down the aisles of Toys R Us. In the name of this “advancement” in technology to become tetherless on the phone, we all quietly accept the lower quality of voice transmission on cell phones…
Well, computing isn’t different. Users of laptops are forgiving for slower speeds, smaller hard drive space, etc…as well as smaller screens. And we forget about these sacrifices which we would never accept with desktop machines just because of the ‘portability’ laptops give us.
Long story short, it is interesting to visit friend’s homes squinting at tiny laptop screens when there’s a huge lcd monitor on the desk right next to them (powered off because it’s connected to the desktop computer).
Sacrifice no more…at least for this one factor of laptop computing at home… Read the rest of this entry »
MUST BUY for Smart Phone Owners: 2GB MicroSD Card + USB Card Reader

Recently, I’ve become addicted to listening to audiobooks on my Blackjack cell phone using the Windows Mobile Media Player. Just upload the mp3 files and play away. And the fact that my local library is now offering tons of free downloadable audiobooks now certainly helps this new productivity hack for all those times in my daily schedule where I can be multi-tasking.
I love exploiting product features like this because it not only makes you feel great in getting your money’s worth out of the device you bought, it really is a life hack that saves time, or allows you to do more without changing your current behavior much!
Now all this great content needs to be stored somewhere. My current 1Gb MicroSD card certainly can hold a lot of data, but a larger memory card would be nice. . . Read the rest of this entry »

Everyone in America wants one.
Companies have sites, churches have websites, families have sites, special interest groups have sites, students have sites, some pets even have their own websites, weddings — the “event” itself can have it’s own website, all people want their own personal website or blog.

The first step is probably the easiest, but for most laypeople, this could be the most expensive step if you don’t have a clue where to go to . . . Read the rest of this entry »
Jusitification For Couch Potatoes
Oct 17th

Do you know how many times you will hit the “channel up” or “channel down” buttons before you die?
At least a whopping 388,000 times (or up to 8,000,000 times depending on which studies you are referring to)!
And that’s a loud “NO”, Mr. Couch Potato, you cannot use this stat as justification for your lethargic existance. Using your thumb 388,000 times is not considered real exercise. The call it a Lay-z-boy for a reason.
But in an effort to make your time more efficient on that couch, here’s a suggestion that will get you to watch less commercials with less excersise of that mighty remote control thumb of yours.

I just wrote about Obopay, which is basically “PayPal for cell phones“.
It allows you to move money electronically in and out of your checking account as well as transfer money to other people, without knowing their bank account info — just by knowing their cell phone number.
You simply text money to someone else’s cell phone with a text message. The transactions are claimed to be secure and run by Citibank.
I just signed-up for the service myself and confirmed that you do in fact get $10 instantly that you can withdraw to any other checking account. Read the rest of this entry »
