How to send links in an email
How many times have you received an email from a friend with a link to some referred web page and it doesn’t work because it’s so long, that your email program broke it onto 2 different lines, and the “active” link part worked for the first part only? Or it’s so long that it’s just plain ugly in an email? What to do?
I recommend that you try using a link-shortening service like www.tinyurl.com
You simply copy/paste your long, original url and click “submit” and the site will come back with a much shorter URL in the format of http://www.tinyurl.com/SOME_LETTERS_HERE. Basically it’s automatically setting up a permanent “re-direct” url for you – which means that the computer will go to the shorter URL at tinyurl.com and then their computers will say, here’s really where you have to go. All this, of course, is hidden from you or your friend that uses the link.
Long story short, you get a short url that works and ends up in the same place. Plus the url is short enough that it won’t be broken into multiple lines in any email reader and the active link will be correctly intact.
