How to Unlock Your iPhone 4, 4S or 5 on AT&T Wireless and Erase All Data from the iPhone
Seems like a bunch of people are upgrading this Christmas to the new iPhone 5. That means prepping your older iPhone 4 or 4S for sale on eBay or somewhere else. If you’re selling on eBay, the value of the phone is greater if you offer it unlocked. International buyers look specifically for phones that are unlocked so they can use it on various carriers overseas.
So here is a snippet of my own live chat with AT&T Wireless customer service to unlock a recent iPhone 4 which I sold. You can go into a store, Apple store or call customer service, but for me, Live Chat is usually just as efficient and you don’t have to move from your desk one bit. Hope this transcript to unlock your iPhone on AT&T helps:

Alli: I would be happy to help you with that. Can I have the IMEI with no spaces, you can get that from going to Settings, General, About please?
Alli: Thank you, it will be just one moment while I research your device eligibility.
You: Thank you
Alli: Your welcome. I went ahead and filed the unlock request for this phone. Can I send the email of the unlock information to the one provided in the pre-chat?
