Netflix Tip: Ask and You Shall Receive (a free month’s credit)
Netflix recently lost out to Blockbuster Total Access for the first time in the online DVD movie rental wars.
In order to fight what might be the start of a new, unwelcome trend at Netflix, they have adopted a radical strategy to help retain and keep the customers happy. . .
Quite counter-intuitive — they are eliminating customer service in order to improve customer service. The theory behind this new idea is not a cost cutting measure, but rather to ensure the human touch. It seems that they have better retention and problem resolution rates when someone is talking live to the customer.
One big change they made with the Oregon-based Netflix customer service center was to “empower” the reps so that they are able to give away more credits and freebies on the spot without complicated protocols and approvals from above.
If you have any imperfect experience with NetFlix, I highly suggest that you give them a call directly and ASK for some type of courtesy credit because . . . “the DVD’s aren’t arrive quickly enough” or even if the “Netflix.com site responds slowly when you’re trying to select new movies to add to your list,” or if you received a damaged or cracked disc or even if you actually personally prefer email communications with the company and are ticked off that they eliminated that choice. You’ll be pleasantly surprised how easily the reps will give away free month credits and other solutions in order to help keep you happy. You won’t receive if you don’t ask!
