Use Your Verizon Wireless Cell Phone To Talk To Your Tivo
Yes, you read that right. You can now communicate with your Tivo when you’re stuck in line at the grocery store or elsewhere.
You bought your Tivo to save time and make your TV viewing time more productive. Now you can use your downtime when you’re out to find and schedule new TV shows from your Verizon Wireless cell phone.
It’s a great way to set your Tivo to record new programs while you’re out and about. Here’s details of how to set it up. . .
How to Get the TiVo Mobile Application
Simply go to the “Get it Now” catalog on your Verizon wireless phone, select TiVo Mobile, and download the application.
How to Setup TiVo Mobile Scheduling
Once TiVo Mobile is installed on your phone, you will need to configure the application. Have your Tivo Central Online account information available. You only have to go through this quick set-up process once. Tivo.com has a step-by-step visual walkthrough of this set-up process if you need it.
On your Verizon Wireless phone:
Go to the main feature menu and choose “Get It Now”
From this menu, find and launch “TiVo Mobile”
At the Welcome screen, go down to “Settings” and press “select“
Next, select “Setup” and follow the onscreen instructions to configure TiVo Mobile.
How to Schedule Tivo Recordings From Your Cell Phone
Using TiVo Mobile to schedule recordings is very similar to using your TiVo box at home. A series of on-screen menus will guide you through finding, choosing, and recording shows.
Like TiVo Central Online, your TiVo box will need to connect to the TiVo service to receive recordings scheduled with TiVo Mobile.
If your DVR connects to the TiVo service over a phone line, the DVR may wait up to 36 hours between connections. You should only request programs that will not air for at least 36 hours.
If your DVR connects to the TiVo service over an always-on broadband connection, the DVR will check for recording requests every hour. This means you can request a program an hour or more before it airs.
