Steve Jobs is at it again.

Apple just announced that their Safari web browser, originally built for the Mac platform, is now available for Windows.

Just like iTunes, Apple is trying to extend their reach into the Windows world and convince users that their intuitive, clean design & easy of use is something that everyone wants.

Here’s 12 reasons why Apple thinks you’ll like Safari instead of Internet Explorer or Firefox: Read the rest of this entry »

How to Resize Photo Files In Bulk

Did you buy that shiny new digital camera because it had a whopping 8 megapixels or more on the feature list in the store?  What are you going to do with all those pixels?

If you are posting your photos to the web or sending them via email, you certainly don’t need the bloated file size of all the pictures you took with your camera.  Resizing them manually can be a pain in the neck – because you need a photo editing software application as well as the knowledge and time to do it.  Yuck – who wants to do all that?

What do to?  I have the perfect solution for quick resizing of photo files in Windows XP: Read the rest of this entry »

Samsung Blackjack Tip: Secret OEM Tech Support Telephone Number

Today I encountered an issue with my Samsung Blackjack.  I was not able to sync with my laptop’s Outlook data.  It gave me all kinds of trouble.

I tried to reinstall Microsoft Active Sync using the CD that came with the Samsung Blackjack when I bought from Cingular months ago.  It had problems installing and failed each time.  So since I already uninstalled Active Sync on my laptop I tried to reinstall Active Sync 4.5 from the web.  Still no luck.

RegisterFly.com Is Dead – ICANN Terminated ICANN-accredited status

Over the last couple of weeks, Registerfly officially diedFinally.

As a Registerfly.com customer myself, I can personally tell you that it’s a relief to have access to my domains again.

It all started for me as an affordable way to purchase some domains.  They had decent pricing – about $8/domaid and had a workable control panel that I was able to use self-serve pretty well.  I found out that they had an office in West Orange, NJ which was nearby enough to make me feel good about supporting a local hosting company.  As time went by the number of domains they registered grew and grew it seemed…they were supposedly the 15th largest registrar in the US.

In addition, their hosting packages seemed to mirror the value they were selling in domain registrations.  Hosting with Registerfly seemed ok for some of my NON-mission-critical businesses on the web.

Over the last year however, DNS settings were lost and reset without warning, I couldn’t make any changes to certain domains, when I tried to transfer them Registerfly would give me tons of hassles and hurdles to get an “authorization code” to do so, etc. Read the rest of this entry »

Why You Don’t Need Verizon FiOS or Comcast High Speed Internet Service

Sometimes faster is NOT better.

Sometimes more is NOT needed.

Sometimes you just want the basic package.

But WHEN, you ask?  How about for your parents home where they don’t go online all that often or even when they do, they type so slow that a fast internet connection just won’t be noticed at all.  Perhaps YOU need an internet connection whenever you visit, but you don’t visit that often, and can get away with DSL speed — you just don’t want dial-up.

That’s when you need “regular” high speed internet service.  And thankfully, Read the rest of this entry »

Samsung Blackjack Tip: How to Use the Keyguard

In Jared Sandberg’s Wall Street Journal “Cubicle Culture” column last week, he write about the all-too-common cellphone “oops” we all have encountered — the acceidental call when the phone is in your pocket or bag.

Actually just this week, when driving with my Dad in the car, I heard repeated “snapshot” clicks from somewhere. It turns out that his camera phone was taking photos everytime he shifted in the seat because of the the inadvertent key clicks.

All of this accidental activity can be avoided (not to mention extend battery life!) easily if you just learned how to use the keyguard feature on the Samsung Blackjack cell phone.  Interested in preventing embarrasing calls where people eavesdrop on your conversations all because of your own actions?  Then read on… Read the rest of this entry »
